When Amir arrived at Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital, he was vent-dependent and couldn’t sit up on his own. Today, he’s 4, off the trach, walking, learning to eat by mouth—and rocking his tambourine.

Today, he loves attending school, where he’s learning alongside other kids with support from speech, PT, OT, and behavior therapists.

None of this would be possible without Medicaid, which helps cover everything from in-home nursing to his $80-a-case specialized milk. Amir’s made huge progress—and he’s not done yet.
