Andy
Introducing Andy!
When Andy’s mom noticed he wasn’t hitting early milestones, she turned to Seattle Children’s Hospital for answers. At just 1 year old, he was referred to a neurosurgeon to rule out the possibility of a brain tumor. After a series of tests, Andy was diagnosed with an extremely rare condition called Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia.
Because of how rare his diagnosis is, Andy was referred to the hospital’s research institute, which connected him to a study at Boston Children’s Hospital.
Today, Andy’s symptoms are improving. His speech and motor skills have made huge progress, and now he’s thriving in preschool—making friends and doing what he loves most: playing with his trucks!
