At 14, Matthew was diagnosed with Anomalous Aortic Origin of a Coronary Artery—a rare heart condition that required immediate attention. Thanks to the expert care at Texas Children’s Hospital, he underwent successful surgery and began a new chapter.

Now 15, Matthew is thriving in school, enjoying his favorite music, and embracing the routines of everyday life. His journey includes regular cardiology check-ups every three months, echocardiograms, EKGs, and daily medications. Through it all, he feels safe, supported, and seen.

Medicaid has been instrumental in covering the specialized care Matthew needs. This June, he’s joining #TeamCHA at #FAD2025 to advocate for pediatric care and underscore why #MedicaidMatters.
